Add/drop deadline

Goat and sheep weigh in

Mark your calendars for Goat and Sheep Weigh In which will be April 21, 2024, from 1-4 PM at the Bent County Fairgrounds.

Colorado State Fair Beef Forms

If you are planning on showing beef at the 2024 Colorado State Fair be sure your State Fair Beef Nomination form is turned into the Bent County Extension Office, no later than April 1st. Forms will not be accepted after that time.

DNA packets are ordered directly from the CSF and mailed by the exhibitor directly back to the CSF. DNA is NOT to go through the county offices! This is the final year for any retinal scans to be accepted by CSF. If you choose to submit retinol scans instead of DNA, please let the Extension Office know prior to the nomination deadline.

Bent County Born and Raised Goats

To be eligible to participate in the born and raised goat class, members must have a breeder affidavit with a scrapies tag. If the member purchased the goat from a Bent County seller they must have a Bill of Sale as well. All documents are due at the time of weigh in on April 21st.

Poultry

We will have a poultry show again this fair. However, please be aware that if there is a positive case of HPAI before fair and we are quarantined. or the state puts a ban of co-mingling of birds, we will have to cancel.

Members wishing to either add or drop a project have until April 15, 2024, and must complete the two-step process. All projects added or dropped must be done on 4HOnline, and in writing. The form must be signed by both the member and their parent/legal guardian. Add/drop forms are available at the end of this newsletter, on our website, or you can pick one up from the Bent County Extension Office. Please drop off forms at the Extension Office or email them to coopext_bent@mail.colostate.edu. Remember, you must be enrolled in at least one project to maintain your 4-H membership and to participate in 4-H activities.

Hog Nomination forms are due to the Bent County Extension Office no later than April 22 , 2024, by 2 PM. There is one attached to the end of this newsletter, or you can pick one up at the Extension Office.

All Horse, Dog, and Cat ID's are due in 4HOnline by May 1st. There are no exceptions to this deadline. If you need help finding where to enter that information, please contact your club leader or the Extension Office in advance.

Just a reminder this year's county fair theme will be College Game Day.

Youth Fest

Youth Fest will be April 26-28 this year. It will be held at the State Fairgrounds. The cost is $115 per person. Please be aware if you do wish to attend you must acquire a certified chaperone or leader since no Southeast Area 4-H specialist will be attending. The state deadline to register is April 12th.

Big r producing partners

Big R is supporting 4-H and FFA members again this year with their Producing Partners Program to help with the costs associated with projects. Members have until April 15th to turn forms in. Contact the Bent County Extension Office if you have any questions. The form is attached at the end of this newsletter as well.
